Before you change the coil, as Ron suggested. Try cleaning and tightening the spade connector on the distributor. I had a loose one that would fall off at un-opportune moments, killing the engine. Y

Ed, Can't help with the stock length. When I made mine, I decided I wanted to use the Ford 5.0 filter (Wix 51515). I made the tube long enough for this filter, witch is squatter than the stock unit.

Blake, It's not that hard to get the carbs off, really. Take the front off first then the back. If your hand cramps, take a break. The REALLY hard part is the inside/lower/aft manifold nut. No Tricks
