- For midgets, the number increased from 5 to 6 in 1975. I don't know if the same is true of MGBs. The L, I believe is "L"ow compression as you've stated. -Al

- After posting this, I got on the phone with Moss Motors to see if they had any suggestions on how to get the info I wanted. The guy got a MGA Tuning Guide and tried to cross reference the part number

- I have 165/70 R13 tires on a 1974. Those extra 2cm of width certainly add some stickiness to the handling. These are an "optional" tire size, as referenced in tire store books. The diameter is close

- In your post you mentioned ARC welders. I don't have any experience with a 110V ARC welder, but I would think that the power would be limited. A 110V MIG welder would probably be a better investment
