This might be a little late in the conversation, but... My buddy suggested "soda" blasting to remove paint. They use regular baking soda, which doesn't hurt the metal and is environmentally friendly.

Yes, us "stupid amateur"s still have to sandblast "outside". The only way I know of to get rid of the rust on the framework, etc. I use a painter's respirator, gloves and blasters hood. Menard's and

I used the chip method once... I actually started out with paint stripper and ended up just chipping away at the paint. Worked pretty well and I thought it was faster than the paint stripper. I think
