- Hello everyone. I'm having problems getting the brakes working properly on my Alpine S3 GT. Basically, I've gone completely through the brake system and haven't been able to isolate the problem. Afte

- It's definitely a MC problem. Something inside binding and not letting the piston all the way back to release the pressure. Rebuild or replace it. gary

- I have seen this happen before, but not an ALpine. The problem comes with similar auto models that has disk or drum brakes. If the drum MC was accidentally replace in a disk brake equipped car, it w

- Ian and I rebuilt the brake system on a serIII and we could not understand why it would pull hard to one side on braking. Ian figured it out to be a bad flexible brake hose that was restricting the f

- Another area to check- the master cylinder. I have seen the rubber turn to a gooey mush. This can prevent the piston from returning all the way. Bill -- Original Message -- From: "Al Adams" <aradams@

- Thanks for the reply, Ian, but I've already done that. Even though the original brake hoses looked new, I was afraid they had broken down internally, so I replaced all the hoses - both front and the

- Hi Al, Before dismanteling MC or main cylinder think about your brakefluid. This is very hygroscopic and causes rust inside the brakeclaws. I had this problem 2 times already. I just removed the brak

- Assuming you have a servo connected, this sounds like the culprit. If the servo valves are faulty, you end up in a situation where the Servo will 'not let go' after braking. T isolate this, disconnec

- Could be, I've had a similar situation, where the inner core of the hoses disintegrated. However, it would be most unlikely that both would deteriorate at precisely the same time. You should therefor

- If you'd ever dissected an old brake hose, you see the cause of this. The inner rubber tube gets blocked by disintegrating rubber deposits, which can form a 'valve' effect, which prevents the pressur
