I think you underestimate the modern technology in currently road racing Tigers. You are correct, on a rally course the Lotus Sunbeam would probably be head and shoulders above a Tiger in any config

The Zenith carbs and manifold will bolt directly on to your 1725 head with the possible exception of the rear water passage from the manifold-to-head: late heads do not have that passageway drilled
