I wonder if the "catastophic" nature of the severe clunking might be related to the notorious diff mounts. I have never had a diff mount failure so I don't know the symptoms. Just a thought. Rich C.

John - you could do some repairs with fiberglass. I completely covered my old, original tunnel cover and it held up OK. I just replaced it this year with a manufactured fiberglass unit from Vic Brit.
