A turbo relies on rpm's to build horsepower. They do very little for off the line performance. Also, the "turbo lag" can be a little disconcerting. You mash the throttle, and the car sort of swells up to the acceleration. A supercharger is more direct. Hit throttle and go. While the turbo is driven by exhaust gas, the super charger (or "blower") is belt driven.
