A Lancia Aurelia has a shimmy even in perfect condition. This is down to the geometry of the steering which gives a little bump steer. One arm from steering box to link on the far upright, one arm between links on the uprights each side. Its the reason for an idler box to match the steering box on a more sophisticated system. Perhaps you have a tiny piece of bump steer in your system? An Aurelia only has as much as you'd get from a 4ft long bar at 10 degrees to horizontal over a 1in deflection yet it is noticable. David |
