DAYTONA BEACH, FL. Motorsports journalist, Sandy McKee, first reported in
the Baltimore Sun, that Jack Roush and Mark Martin were going to announce
something BIG in the Winston Cup motorsports world. Roush held a press
conference yesterday to unveil their 2001 race car with a brand new sponsor
for Roush Racing. Here are a few (very off the record) comments that may have
been overheard:
JACK ROUSH: We're all very excited about our new sponsor for Roush Racing!
MARK MARTIN: I've been driving the No. 6 Ford Valvoline car forever and
thought that I needed something more exciting for the future. I think this
is a real BIG deal!
JACK and MARK: We have always been two very old friends in this racing
business...and we both felt that we needed this sponsor to rejuvenate us!
MARK: I ain't getting any younger...and I definitely want to continue doing
what I've been doing without losing my competitive edge. My new contract
runs through 2005 and I certainly feel good about this deal.
JACK: We both want to appeal to a younger Winston Cup following.. while
keeping our image going strong for our older fans too! I think this is the
right prescription for success!
MARK and JACK: There's no doubt..that we're both pleased with the new
result....it's gonna be a strong relationship...Roush Racing and our new
sponsor....VIAGRA!
MARK: I never felt better....I'm in love with the new Viagra Ford....it's
gonna be a real strong contender....just watch us get up front!
JACK: Mark's right...the No.6 Viagra Ford is gonna be a real rocket next
season!
MARK: Y'all be watching for me in the No.6 Viagra Ford....and don't forget
to join my new Mark Martin/Viagra #6 Fan Club...it's absolutely free for all
those who send in a proof of purchase receipt for Viagra.
JACK and MARK: Thanks for listening....Y'all come again!
