For a quite frightening picture of what can happen when a drive shaft lets go 
see the
picture in the recent VMC newsletter. Shows a gearshift linkage tube wrapped 
about 6 times
around the remains of a rear engined car's drive shaft after a metalastic 
coupling gave
way.
