Rick,

I insured my street Elan through the Lotus Ltd insurance plan, after having my
Eleven with them for several years. I think Lotus Ltd. has changed the plan,
and I'm not sure Parish is involved with it, but my policy is still in force
and if anything, the premium may have dropped a little. The policy is strange
in that the underwriter for the value part is Lloyds while I think an American
company, perhaps Cigna, covers liability etc.

The value of insurance is never known until you need it. Unfortunately, I
sustained some storm damage two years ago and had to make a claim. It was
handled in a very professional manner, the adjuster realizing that these are
not just old cars to me. I certainly hope they can help you.

I tried to get Parrish to insure a street legal lotus 7 which is vintage
raced and they wouldn't cover the "street" part. Has that policy changed?

You guys all need to be talking to Parish Insurance. I know they're not on
the left coast, but they DO understand insuring vintage race cars. They have
insured my Eleven for at least ten years for coverage at stated value, while
the car is anywhere, including race paddock, but not on the track at speed.
They also insure my other Lotus proects and street cars now. Contact them
at 800-274-1804

that they would not insure a vintage race car. I tried to make it clear to
her that I knew that the car wouldn't be covered while actually on-track,
that I just wanted coverage while on the highway as a licensed vehicle,
while in transit and in the paddock, and while sitting in my garage. I was
told that they insure "show" cars, but they don't insure cars actually used
as race cars.

This is what I was told by Hagerty, as well.
