At the recent VARAC Vintage races held at Mosport the SVRA presented the
VARAC Board of Directors with the second annual Hands Across the Boarder
award. SVRA provides the plaque in the spirit of the Vintage racing
community with the thought that vintage racers are a single boarderless
community, & to honor the Canadaian Vintage Festival.
The award receipent selected by the VARAC BD. of Directors was Jack
VELDEN. Jack often races as a boarder crosser with the SVRA & VARAC. He is
typical of the cheerful/helpful/well spirited racer we all want to pit
side of when your car is broken and needs a cando neighbor.
Last years award winner, Vaughn Rockney was seen buying breakfast for
everyone in his formula class that bested his "Time to BEAT". At $5.00
each the Mc Mosport Egg Sandwich was a treat for anyone with a faster time
than Vaughn. There was some discussion that timing & scoring had created
a fast lap for Vaughn so he'd still have money to get home on.
He's another Spirit of the Sport person & proved it again!
See you all at next years Festival in Ontario, or sooner at SVRA Watkins
Glen in Sept.
My thanks to the VARAC Board for another excellent selection.
