I spoke with a friend of mine that raced back in the 60's.  He laughed 
pretty hard at this one.  Said he would have given his left nut to have had 
an enclosed trailer, if they were available then like they are now.  So I 
guess, our using an enclosed trailer is a vintage dream come true.

If using an open trailer is right for you, great.  Don't look down your nose 
at those that do.  We certainly don't look down ours at those that don't. ;}
