Actually, I was thinking of donating my entire intestinal tract, to be
displayed as a warning to those who would venture to consume hot dogs
and hamburgers prepared by the 4-star chefs from the Odessa Volunteer
Fire Department.
What a simpler time that was...
At any rate -- beside the fact that you owe me several personal replies
-- someone on this list was asking about the "1961 Australian Grand
Prix" scenes from the dramatization of Nevil Shute's "On the Beach"...
I have the skinny entire, from an article in the (some month) 1959 Road
& Track. I can either post juicy excerpts, or I can OCR the whole
schmear (it's not all that long) and attach it as an ASCII text file. I
can even supply JPEGS, if anyone wants 'em. Some cool shots NOT shown in
the film.
Just as a teaser --yes, the whole thing was shot at Riverside, some
semi-famous cars 'n' stars were there (the old #88 double-supercharged
MG special as once campaigned by Jack McAfee, the ageless Bob
Bondurant), and Fred Astaire *wasn't*: he was in Australia shooting
additional footage...
