John;
Question.. Does this then mean that production cars can be prepared to the
1973 "point in time"? Obviously, some "vintage" cars are still being raced
today (MGs, Lotus Elans, TRs, etc), and prepared to today's rules. The 1973
cut-off seems much later than most other vintage organziations recognize.
(1967 for CSRG, 1963 for HMSA I believe, and 1969 and 1971 for some others).
This could create a big disparity in preparation levels, tires, suspensions,
engines, etc.
I attended the Laguna SCCA event, and agree with the commentary....you do it
knowing that you'll be outrun by cars prepared to a different standard, but
it was a fun event nevertheless. I had perhaps my best race ever with some
of my old friends, while the other guys had their own races up and down the
field.
