Steve: Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hi..was busy staring at the
Rochester and whispering things at it......as far as not showing up next
year, if you get invited---by all means, show up. SCCA vintage is much more
loose than CSRG or HMSA or even VARA as far as what they consider vintage.
Many of the cars there were like yours in that they don't conform to
"period" spec and have no other place to run. A lot of cars that do conform
to period spec and were built specifically for period vintage racing didn't
show up at SCCA as they don't feel they can be competitive there. I didn't
expect to be competitive against cars that are over prepped so the way I see
it is as long as I know that up front and choose to go, I have nothing to
complain about. So I run mid pack and dice with over prepped cars that are
poorly driven and cars that are prepped to the same vintage spec as mine and
are well driven.

If demand is strong enough so that SCCA vintage can field enough period
prepped production cars to make money, they'll change the rules and disallow
cars that don't fit. Until then, don't worry about the bitching.....Any B/P
cars that show up and complain about stroker 351 motors in early Mustangs or
flares and big slicks aren't clear on SCCA's concept of vintage and will
vote by not showing up next year. SCCA will then have to figure out what
suits their needs and make rules accordingly.....

good to see Larrys car still running........

Hope you don't mind that I post this to vintage.......subjects relevant to
others.......

Going to the NORCAL open track at Sears?????

Ted, I was at the Laguna Vintage Races. I was the one driving the 63 Park
Performance Corvette.Yes, the one with flares and oversized tires.I know tha=
t
I had a slight advantage over alot of the cars in group 5, but the only
vintage racing that I can do with my car is with SCCA.I was having some fun
on Saturday running with Mac Archer in his 65 Cobra, Sunday he had some
problems and wasn't able to run. I started up front and Dan Luckow was next
to me, that lasted till about turn 2. I don't think that our race was all
that good, we must have done about 5 or 6 pase car laps.
I still had a fun weekend, it was good to see all my Shelby Club friends. I
told Glenn Hill that I probably wouldn't be going to any more SCCA Vintage
races, because to many people were complaining about my car, but he wanted m=
e
to come back next year.
For the people that don't know me, I have only been racing for 1 year. Last
years Vintage Race was my very first, and there were people complaining abou=
t
my car there. I was running road race tires, so this year I put treaded tire=
s
on, but it didn't seem to help, sorry guys!!
