Yes, I got Glenns letter with my confirmation. I have several
comments..........The September event was added on short notice and was not
a "Vintage" event in total. I understand it was just a run group added to a
scheduled SCCA event. It also conflicted with a PCA(Porsche Club of
America) National race at Las Vegas that I was committed to. Pending my
experience at LS this coming week, I'd be interested in an SCCA summer
"vintage" event if it was indeed a "vintage" event. I'm not interested in
being in a run group at an SCCA event that has "vintage" cars in it. Too
little track time and I prefer to run under vintage rules in total...and
against cars that were built to a period spec.
That said, this is my first SCCA vintage experience. There are over 200
cars at LS? Hell, I hope there's more than that as there are 51 in my race
group alone. There are six or seven groups. I get a practice session and a
qualifying race on Sat. and practice and feature race on Sunday. Not a lot
of track time. I've looked at the entries and the "Big Bore Production"
group appears to have a lot of cars that don't qualify for A or B production
under vintage rules. A/S cars, ex-stock cars, and GT350s with 351ci motors?
In short, a large group and cars that may not get out but once or twice a
year. This is starting to feel like a "Lets try to get thru it in one
piece" event rather than a let's go out and have fun event. I was pleased
that Glenn included the 13/13 rules in the package and hope they're enforced
as stated.
I hope it all works out well, if it does I'll be back next year........If
not, I'll run elsewhere.....Gotta hand it to Glenn for taking this on. I'd
like to see this vintage venue be successful.

All of you who are headed to Laguna for the SCCA Fall event have gotten a
letter from Glenn Hills, the hard working chairman, about the lack of succes=
s
of the Sept Sears Point Race.
Although Glenn expects over 200 cars for next weeks race at Laguna, only 40
cars showed up at Sears in Sept.
Glenn has asked us all if we want a Summer event at Sears next year and I
thought this would be a great forum to discuss the problems and offer some
solutions. We all owe Glenn a helping hand. I'll printout any answers to thi=
s
inquiry and give them to Glenn at Laguna next week.
