So the profile of the "giftee" is that she's not a mechanic. The car will be
sitting for sometimes extended periods of time? As a young person just
starting out, she likely won't have a lot of money for maintenance and repairs.
1) I guess I would teach her about adding gas stabilizer.
2) Pertronix electronic ignition will reduce the number of tune ups she has to
get done.
3) I'm fond of the fawcett electric fuel pump as a trouble free option, though
I know many Listers are fine with the mechanical fuel pump.
4) I'm wondering if a negative ground conversion would be best, since probably
all cars she's familiar with, same as any shade trees she's likely to have
working on it, are negative ground.
5) An oil filter conversion so's to take a modern spin-on might be easier and
cleaner if she or shade tree acquaintence is changing oil.
6) Agree with others about a high speed starter. A good one, though, since
I've had one of these burn out after not-so-much use.
7) Question, not advice: are tires readily available for the stock rims, or
would a wheel conversion be helpful for her?
8) An electronic list of lubrication points and exactly what lubricant to use
in each.
Probably more, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.
