Not sure what car this is on, but on my Spitfire, I had a freeze plug blow out 
the back of the cylinder head and
David Anton at APT FAST suggested I use Green Lock-Tite, as it weeps in and 
seals really well.
I also, just as a precaution, JB WELDED the plug in and have/had no problems.
