I have a guy in our club who puts them in a pot of boiling water and boils
the contaminants out and re-uses them.

I replace them.

I thought I would mention this just for a laugh.  I was told by someone
somewhere sometime that his father had an MGTD.  when the rear seals go on
that, they leak oil into the brake shoes.  when this happened, he would heat
the shoes on the grill, and the oil would seep out.  then he would put them
back on the car.

Replace the shoes!!!!!!!
