I took the distributor and the male end I took out of the carb to NAPA.  They 
had sae type fittings but none worked.  He got out a metric screw sizer and 
that is what worked.  8/1 & 7/1.   Of course they didn't have any....  He also 
said to get the line where I get the fittings as they will be different metric 
vs other.

Moss does have them in their catalog.

It could make a difference, in terms of how quickly the diaphragm moves
under changing conditions. Some cars actually have deliberate restrictions
(although no Triumphs that I know of).

But in this case, the only concern is having the line mate with the
fittings. Since a TR3A uses compression fittings at both ends of the vacuum
line, the OD of the line has to be within a fairly small range for the
compression ferrule to seal to it.

My recollection is that 1/8" copper works fine; but I also don't think the
fittings are metric.
