Bob makes a good point, but AnnaBelle and I have the idea that we
can drive the TR6 to a true SCCA judged Concours and at least be
"competitive". It has taken us over two years to get "Rosey" into
good enough condition to be considered safe to drive, mostly a labor
of love.
We have had some minor success ... 2nd in Class at the Palo Alto
Concours, 3rd in Class at the Serrano Concours, and frankly that was
satisfying. I enter the car in AnnaBelle's name, she exhibits the
car to the Judges, all the work and cussing become instantly
forgotten when I see that smile on her face as the Judges award her
the cryptic note saying the car has won a position.
Maybe this year that position will be a 1st ... but it really does
not matter. We make the shows our mini-vacations, going on Friday,
staying at a nice hotel, doing the show "drive" on Saturday, and the
show on Sunday, coming home on Monday. This year we are limiting
ourselves to true judged concours, knowing full well that the
"trailer queens" will probably beat us again, but they can't take
away the fun we have. This is our schedule for 2007.
Hillsborough Concours 05/06/07
(SCCA)
Shriner's Concours 06/03/07
(SCCA)
Palo Alto Concours 06/24/07
(SCCA)
Presidio of San Francisco 07/29/07
(SCCA)
Ironstone Concours 09/22/07
Niello Concours @ Serrano 10/07/07
(SCCA)
California Autumn Classic 10/20-21/07 Not an SCCA event but we
love San Juan Bautista
Throw in the Alpine 500 rallye the last weekend of April (Casper's
event) and we have a busy season. We drive to and from all of these
events and have a great time.
If any of you happen to be in the area stop by and say hello ...
>
>Well I didnt even come close in in the final results. The trailer queens won
>as usual. My T140V is a daily driver and I drove it over 50 miles just to get
>to the show. No points for originality, no points for a daily driver, and no
>points for doing all the work yourself.
>
>Well I learned a lesson there. That is the last entry I will ever make. From
>now on, when I attend events, the only folks that will "judge" my cars/bikes
>will be the "peanut gallery".
>
>I have made some mods on both my TR3 and 4 that I am sure will fail the acid
>test if judged. But I get a kick out of working and driving these vehicles.
>
>I also have the rubber mats from TRF installed, homemade badge bars with fog
>and driving lights (and soon autox.team.net badges). I hope I dont get
>banished from the list for these deviations from the "Standard".
