Another benefit is that the Pertronix system eliminates the problem of shaft
wobble that causes point problems in worn dizzys. The first Pertr. unit I
bought failed (collar came apart) replaced by manufacturer at no cost. The
replacement unit is now 10 years old, no problems. With the Pertr the TR-6 runs
considerably smoother at idle and there is a distinct noticeable improvement in
engine performance across the power range.

Basically, all these things do is replace the points. But ain't that enough?
:-)

I put one on our TR4 (positive ground model). I had to do a tiny bit of filing
on one mounting hole to fit it. I checked the timing before and after. It
didn't change a bit.

I replaced the old coil with their coil. Pay attention to the coil that you
are supposed to use with each ignition model. I did not use a ballast resister.

The car runs better. Sometimes on the points I had had some missing.

It has been dead reliable, but I keep a set of points in the glove box.
