Basically, all these things do is replace the points.  But ain't that enough?

I put one on our TR4 (positive ground model).  I had to do a tiny bit of filing 
on one mounting hole to fit it.    I checked the timing before and after.  It 
didn't change a bit.

I replaced the old coil with their coil.  Pay attention to the coil that you 
are supposed to use with each ignition model.  I did not use a ballast resister.

The car runs better.  Sometimes on the points I had had some missing. 

It has been dead reliable, but I keep a set of points in the glove box.
