Not at all. It only restricts access to these works VIA THIS WEBSITE. If,
as you say, the author retains copyrights he is free to publish the works on
any and all alternative websites he/she chooses.
After some reflection, and in spite of the fact that I think that anyone who
is concerned about spending $25 for VTR membership is probably in the wrong
hobby, I am inclined to believe that restricting access was an ill advised
move.
Getting people to join VTR and help support the organization is much like
public television stations to get viewers to join up. Some will rise to their
civic responsibility and others will not. That's life and get over it. Do the
VTR vehicle consultants check to see if the person who is calling is a VTR
member? And is his membership current? Some things are just more trouble than
they are worth.
Does Mark check to see if a person posting to this list has sent in a
donation lately?
It's like the fastener isle in the local hardware store. Management knows
that some product will "walk." They know that some product will fall on the
floor and get swept up and thrown away. They also know that some product will
be
put back in the wrong box. But the fact that folk come in to browse the
bolts and nuts means they are also browsing the tool isle and the light fixture
isle makes it all worth while.
