If you dissect one you will see that it is nothing more than a shuttle that
has the pressure from each circuit applied to either end. If a slow leak
develops it can go unnoticed but the resulting differential in pressure will
move
the shuttle off center and actuate the switch. When the light comes on you
drive to the dealer and have it checked out.
Of course a catastrophic failure will be quite noticeable.
