Hi Guys,
I have come across a set of Z/S 250 carbs that still have the lead factory
seal affixed to the top cover and body. That would mean that they are
"untouched" and of factory build. They were very dirty as usual on the outside,
but from
what I can see inside they are pristine. The pistons go up nicely and come
back down with a click. I have simply cleaned them up with carb cleaner on the
outside and I think I am going to just slap them "as is" on my 250 to see how
they perform. Well, maybe I should put some oil in the dashpots.
They are the very early carbs with the 5/8" nut on the bottom plug. You don't
see many of this type although my car has a set fitted at present. The front
one is stamped "232 S3173F 507. The rear is "233 S3173R 507. Anyone know
what the numbers mean? I feel kinda like an Archeologist with something
special
here, 37 years old and waiting to be reborn. I will post a note when I fit
them and fire them up. I hope the fire is not literal!
Cheers,
Darrell
