Hey Dennis,

Very often if you press the caps together to tightly the joint movement 
will fell tight. You can probably reassemble the drive shaft with out 
any problems. the cap will work out by itself. If you want before 
reinstalling the drive shaft you can gently tap on the yoke to move the 
end cap out slightly. You may be able to tell if the cap is in to much 
if the retaining clip is not snug against the cap.
If a bearing is out of place I don't think you'd be able to get the cap 
on enough to seat.
