I replaced mine a few years ago with one from Moss on my TR4A daily driver. Had two malfunction for the same reason; water got into the solenoid and gummed up the works. Moss replaced both free, no questions asked. The third one has a nasty habit of spinning the starter but not engaging the gear, but it only occurs once or so a month. Even with the problems they're FAR BETTER than the original units. Lots of spin. Highly recommend them. As I recall the base unit is a Hitachi found on many Subaru's, then modified for our LBC's. Good luck! John |
