Thanks for the reply, Randall.  I was browsing through the same 
catalog and came again to that same page.  They have inverters rated 
up to 6000 watts.  Those do make the "little" 750 watt unit seem 
wimpy.  Okay, I'll grant that you could run a TV, especially an LCD 
model, for a long time on a battery; I've been known to run lights 
that way in some circumstances.  But 6000 watts?  Even for just 
startup?  Surely that isn't continuous, since they would probably 
list the more impressive "startup" rating in the catalog.
