I've used gear oil for past 5 years.

Graham Stretch commented, ".... I have not found a gun that will hold oil!"
At the suggestion of one of the List a few years ago, I obtained an oil /
grease gun from a boatyard: this does hold oil, gets it into the trunnions
and didn't cost much either. I think the gun is intended for use on outboard
motors - I'll get the details when I go into my garage tonight if you wish.
