Long time lurker surfacing to pose a few questions to the learned souls
on this list.
Question 1: Is there any difference between a Dolomite 1500HL overdrive
gearbox and a Dolomite 1850HL overdrive gearbox?
Question 2: Has anyone measured the weight difference between a Mk3
Spitfire and a GT6+ with a Spitfire body? Or to ask it another way, has
anyone measured the difference in weight between the 1296 engine +
gearbox + ancillaries and the 2000 engine + gearbox + ancillaries. I'm
trying to work out the weight gain to the front of my Spitfire Mk3 by
having the 2L six in it - so I can try to at least remove some of the
additional weight through lightening (I'm dreaming I know).
Question 3: I know that a few people have fitted the saloon gearbox in a
GT6 - besides the weight gain and having to mod the tunnel cover what
other gotchas are involved? I suspect the clutch activation arm will
foul the chassis.
Any help with the above very much appreciated.
