" DOT 3 and DOT 4 are basically the same stuff: glycol-based brake fluid." DOT 3 & 4 brake fluids are actually glycol ether based, which is why the eat paint. The raw material is a byproduct from a process to make solvents used in many paint formulations as well as other products.
