Never had a 3 but for several years back in Illinois in the late 60's I had
a 4-A and fitted it with a tow package that was available from the local TR
dealer. Bought it so I could tow a 16 ft. runabout with a 35 hp Evinrude up
to Lake Buella in Wisconsin for weekends of skiing with my girlfriend and
another couple. What a blast! And what looks we got cruising up and down the
toll road (about 150 - 200 miles round trip. Did that for several summers.
The boat was bigger than the car! I think that may have been a factor in the
failure of the tranny countershaft after the third year. Still worth every
problem if for nothing else than the great memories. By the by it was an OD
4-A and we could easily cruise at 65.

Now I'm cruising the back roads of northern CA wine country in my 73 TR-6
bought new from the showroom in Westmont IL. Still going at 317,000 miles
and I am really tempted to get a tow package for a small boat to ski Lake
Sonoma. Still a kid and still crazy after all these years

Friend of mine used to tow his (small) sailboat behind a TR3A.
