Hi Glenn
You should not need any jointing compound as the pipe flares are what seals,
if they don't seal they are either done wrong or the wrong type. There are
two types of flare, single and double,
the single is diamond shape =<> (a bit fatter) in cross section
and the double is =<< except the two layers are tight together, no askey
character for that!
I guess if you are looking to protect the fittings from corroding in the
cylinder some tape would help, and if you are real careful not to get it in
the system you could use anti seize compound. The only risk from this is
during assembly because if during operation the brake fluid is sealed in
then the anti seize is sealed out. Applying to the fitting rather than the
hole should ensure zero contamination!
If in doubt leave it dry!
