I have an older original (pre-Crane) Allison XR-700 ignition I bought to
replace my anodized aluminum Crane unit (purely for cosmetics). Since the
connectors are the same, I just switched the boxes and didn't mess with
changing the photodiodes in the distributor, but got no spark. I checked
that the wire colors matched up, but I guess they might have changed the
color assignements at some point.

Can some kind soul help me figure out how to determine for sure if the
control box is dead (without killing it if it's NOT already dead)?

It's supposedly NOS (came with box and warranty card, but no shutters or
instructions, so I assume the worst. Such is ebay).

Has anyone had luck in getting Crane to honor the Allison "lifetime"
warranty? If so, is there any chance at all they would replace it with the
"vintage" model?
Thanks
