Hi!.My TR6 motor has been rebuilt for over ayear with the head and
camfollowers not fitted.Last weekend before i fitted the head i filled the
sump with oil tipped the motor on its side filled up the oil filter
opening, fitted oil filter, removed relief valve filled this with oil and
refitted relief valve stood motor back up right- fitted starter-oil
pressure gauge and pump drive onto cam.Started motor and after about 30
seconds the oil pressure gauge had a reading of over 70 lbs,oil then came
out the rocker hole in block. The cam followers now fitted the rebuilt
unleaded head fitted and tighten down{made sure cam followers where off the
cam},restarted the motor waited for the oil to come out of the rocker oil
hole in head,so now the oil ways are now primed, push rods fitted, roller
rocker installed-rechecked timing-all ok- all wrapped up ready for
installing once body is finished. All a very simple job to get oil pressure
before fitting motor to car.
Cheers
Ashley.
