I just checked. The first ad was
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1874703421&cat
egory=6469 . Unfortunately, it is no longer available on E-bay. I have a
notation in my list that the reserved was disclosed as $7,500. I see now
that the disclosed reserve is $4,500.

The sad part is that I'd love to have a true TR5, but, other than Runyon's,
are there any other true left hand drive TR5's in North America? I know
some were made, but how many have actually made it here?

Ken,

I think the collective wisdom of the list has already answered that question
:^)

Just for the record, over the past 20 years, I have occasionally bought
items from Wayne (when he was in San Jose). However, now that he's in
Stockton, I probably won't be buying anything else from him because I found
that with Wayne, it was always best to see the item in person before you
gave him your money.

I am fairly certain that is the same "TR5" that was previously advertised.
This is only the second "TR5" to come up in the last 3 1/2 years, same
color, same seller, and again, going from memory, same pictures. I may be
able to check for sure when I get to the computer with my "master list" on
it.

Which brings up the obvious question, as this was shown to be converted
TR250 before, way doesn't the ad mention that this time?

Everyone;
First off, I certainly did not say that Wayne had faked anything. Merely
asked if the car was a real TR5 LHD (a relatively low production model) or a
converted TR250, as was previously advertised by TO. While presumption of
innocence is a worthy attitude, when dealing in old car sales, one must be
cautious. My inbox has several emails that advise the same. Additionally,
years ago Wayne sold me a car with an "open" title (signed off by the owner
in blank, and passed though many hands without transfer). Rather than drag
out the gory details, it took an attorney and much griping by Wayne of the
cost to get the car processed by the California DMV into his name and then
sold to me. The car sat for 5 years in my garage until I cooled off enough
to work on the car. What, me, hold a grudge? I'd love to have a TR5, but
with rusty RHD examples selling in England for 8 to 10,000.00 USD, its seems
reasonable to ponder the pedigree on the car in question. Anybody else out
there willing to sell me one under 5 grand?
