Jerry,
Find a shop with a HEAVY-DUTY press. Caliper mounting plate shouldn't matter,
if you have the link off the car. I went through all the things you are going
through - had the same success (or lack of). A 30-ton press did the trick,
with a lot of force on the lever of the hyd. cyl.
Mount the assembly in a press, with the tire side of the stub axel in a piece
of thick pipe a little longer than the axel, and press it out from the rear of
the vert. link.
