It seems to me that the TR 4 and 4A... and early Spitfire, etc.. all
with the same windshield frame... had an interior leather-looking
plastic or vinyl lining glued to the inside of the frame. It's
something one can't really replace without removing the windshield, all
the weather-stripping, and the top aluminum detail. The question I have
is this....
What is being offered out there to replace this material? As far as I
can see, for the most part, it was not a cloth-backed vinyl, but rather,
some sort of thin plastic... I don't recall seeing anything in the
catalogs, but my catalog collection is far from up to date.
The reason I ask is twofold:
A. If there's something out there, great, I'll buy it! and
B. If there isn't anything out there, then maybe if I come up with
something that's close to stock, I can make extras and I either offer it
up as a product or, at least, record what I do, etc. to help others
achieve the same results.
Many years ago, in restoring a TR 4A, I just glued down a vinyl. It
looked okay, but I wasn't quite satisfied.
(Please reply directly as I don't get through all the digests, thank you.)
