Mike, when you start to release the clutch, does it engage with the pedal
very near the floor ?

If so, the problem is insufficient throwout travel, which can be a variety
of things, everything from low fluid to a broken taper pin.

If not, the problem is likely to be a dragging pilot bearing.  Was it
replaced at the last clutch job ?  Were the locating pins between the engine
and transmission put back in ?

There are some differences, like your TR4 is probably not the "self
adjusting" setup, nor does it have the troublesome "diaphragm" pressure
plate used in the TR4A-6; but it's mostly pretty similar.
