My guess is that someone changed yours then.
It seems very Triumph like to make the first production parts out of molded
fiberboard wrapped in vinyl.
They made everything else out of the molded fiberboard . . . the glove box,
the radiator duct, even the transmission tunnel cover.
I was more questioning whether it was Triumph or an aftermarket supplier who
decided to make them out of molded plastic.
It looks like it was Triumph . . . which surprised me to a degree.
I guess the early paper based ones really weren't holding up worth a crap.

I have an very early TR4, CT3795LO. Unless someone has changed mine, it is a
molded plastic plinth.
