You'll have to get a temporary registration in order to drive it to the smog
station.  Just be sure your route to the smog station includes 20-30 miles
of freeway driving, and all should be fine.  This is a good idea anyway, I
always try to do at least a few miles at speed before an inspection.  Hot
converters work better and old, tired converters take longer to get hot.

However, there's a good chance that all the oil smoke has fatally poisoned
your converter, so don't be too surprised if it has to be replaced to pass
inspection.
