I'm not quite sure what you mean by "adapter housing".  But...

On the Spitfire (at least the later ones), the OD gearbox has a 
different real engine mount *and* a different plate, perhaps 5"x6", 
that spans the frame members to support that engine mount.  Many 
people who do the conversion forget to get the cross-frame plate.  Of 
course, the original poster is asking about a TR, which is most 
certainly different.
