Hello.
I disassembled one of my spare carbs today. Some may remember I plan to
rebuild these in my leisure while running the originals on the car. I have
identified the spare set as Zenith Stromberg 175CD-2SEV. These are diferent
from the stock 1972 175CD-2SE carbs in that they have a Float Chamber
Emissions Port (many thanks AGAIN Nelson).
I am leery of emissions add-ons and troubles they may cause. Is there any
particular reason I should prefer using the original carbs without the float
chamber emissions port? I notice from Nelson's writeup that this is port is
vented to the charcoal canister. I can't see how. My existing carbs only
draw from the canister which I have disabled anyway because it seemed to
have a vacuum leak. How would I handle this? Can I vent them to atmosphere
or disable them?
Thanks,
Hugh Fader
