Yup, it's bearings are shot and most likely, the armature is rubbing on the
pole pieces. However, there's no way a new unit should've failed that fast,
I'd have a talk with BPN.

Sorry, no opinion. But, the Lucas unit should've lasted a _lot_ longer than
it did. As much as we like to joke about the Prince of Darkness, the
starters were no worse than most.
