(again!)
the vtr web site has some great instructions. my oil dampers leak bad.
vtr
has a tech tip that explains to remove the needle from the air valve, then
driving out the needle adjusting screw with a 8 1/2" rod by hitting it with
a
hammer. has anyone done this ? i've got it all apart and tried one
decent
tap with the hammer. i dunno !!! it was really tight and i don't want to
break anything here. advice is greatly appreciated by anyone who has done
this before. also, i don't have seals in my carb rebuild kits from trf (is
says that in this ttech tip too, so now i am getting real doubtful).

Larry, you just have to grit your teeth and whack it. I used a dowell rod
so as not to damage the brass adjuster piece. This adjuster piece is held
in place with a spring clip which will slide out very reluctantly. Don't
loose it. when you get the adjuster out you will see the O-ring that needs
to be replaced. Don't worry if you do score the bore on removal of the
retainer, once the adjuster is reniserted in the bore the O-ring will
reside in a region below the scoring.

Good luck

Dave
