my 72 gt6 speedo stopped working yesterday.
i pulled the cable off the back of the speed to see if the cable was turning -
it was not. then i found one small adapter there at the end of the cable. it
is about 6" long and just is a mini cable that adapts one size of the threads
down to the size to screw on the back of the speedo. then attached to that is
a short about 4" thing. it has a black block on it. it says "Pemwalt, S.S.
White industrial products" on it. The speedo cable in the car will not fit on
the back of the speedo, the knurled nut is too large. does this mean i have
the wrongs speedo cable on the car ? is the adapter that broke the correct
thing to have ? what is the black thing that also was on the cable ? some
kind of speed adjuster ? or a thing that will break before the cable does ?
what do you do to lube these cables ? the tach cable 'chatters' when i first
start up, so i suspect it needs lube ?
thanks for the advice ! larry, lstein6@earthlink.net
