There's at least some historic precedent *for* it.

One of the GT6 parts manuals (competition or standard) lists an underbelly
skid plate for rallying.

Greetings all! New lister here with a questions that's probably answered
somewhere in an archive. I haven't found it yet so I'll ask away...

Does anyone have any thoughts as to the suitability of adapting a GT6 for
use in SCCA ClubRally? For those not familiar with this type of racing is
is generally performed on un-improved roads (2-track, fireroads, goat
trails...) and for most vehicles involves operating the vehicle around 1"
OVER stock ride height. The name of the game is wheel travel and after
reading about the GT6 suspension geometry I am a little worried about how
adaptable it might be.

I am aware of the problems with tranny and rear diff, so the spirit of this
solicitation is to get input on the other areas of the car. All comments
are appreciated.
