Kirk,
You are absolutely right about cars deteriorating when not driven. Our 76
TR6, that was rock solid reliable for 2 decades, has started to sprout
various little mechanical problems that can all be traced to lack of use.
We parked it in the garage because we had several close calls with it
getting hit and it was such a nice unmolested, original 54,000 mile car.
Big mistake. I had far less trouble with it when it was driven every week
and even every day than I do now that it gets driven only once every 2 or
3 months. I'm going to sort out the latest problems and start driving it
more. These cars really are more reliable the more they get used. They
have minds of their own and they detest being kept hidden away in an ivory
tower (or garage).
Greg
I very, very rarely have problems.....due in most part because I drive it
on a regular basis...
...don't let the car sit until it turns into a pool of crap. This
last point
is extremely important. Many of really stupid problems posted to this
list
(there
are other Triumph model specific lists whose participants do a better job
than
this one....unfortunately, there are too many lists) are associated with
owners
too lazy, timid or worried about driving their cars on a consistent
basis.
They
don't age well in the garage....They will Rot and you will have Problems
with
your Triumph if you don't regularly drive it....PERIOD!!
